An Unavoidable Issue

Jews for Jesus Mission Statement
We exist to make the messiahship of Jesus an
unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide.
As missionaries with Jews for Jesus in New York City we do a lot of seed sowing.  Each week Stewart and I (Shosh) stand on street corners or in subway stations offering broadsides to everyone willing to receive them.  We don't always see results from our labor. But we press on believing God is at work.

This evening we got together with Jeff and Maureen.  Fifteen  years ago Jeff and Maureen walked into Beth Messiah Messianic Congregation in New Jersey where we served.  They were looking for those "Jews for Jesus". At that time Jeff was not a believer.  It wasn't long before Jeff prayed with Stewart to receive Jesus. Since that day Jeff and Maureen have faithfully attended and served at Beth Messiah.

Maureen and Jeff  heard of Jews for Jesus for years before they went to Beth Messiah.  Jeff told us he had been at an art show exhibiting his work when a "Jews for Jesus" woman engaged him in a conversation.  Maureen doesn't remember exactly how she first heard of Jews for Jesus.  She may have received a broadside.  However it happened the issue had been raised.  And in God's perfect time salvation came.
"Moreover it is required in stewards,
that a man be found faithful."  1 Corin. 4:2

  1. Dear Stewart and Shoshanna
There are many ways to serve our Messiah. You have been called to the most confrontational. Every day you taste a bit of the rejection He experienced. Nothing can sustain you in this daily battle except the constant presence of the Holy Spirit. While I hope not to be called to this ministry I cannot help but admire the tenacity and commitment of you and all your associates at JFJ. I respect and love you guys.
I bless you with this poem.
    Paul

    Life Stages of my Messiah
    You were a baby,
    crawling, gurgling, drooling,
the Creator of sound itself unable to utter a word.

    You were a toddler,
learning to walk, touching everything you could,
experiencing with human hands all that You created.

    You were a teenager,
what a sight You must have been sitting there with the Rabbis
talking about the words You wrote.

    You were a man,
working in the carpenter shop with dad, making chairs, tables, cabinets.
Then suddenly, you put down your tools, kissed mother good‑bye and went to
the Jordan, where John baptized you, and Father affirmed Your call.

    You were a Rabbi,
at thirty, a teacher, healer, a lover of the unlovable, calling those whom You created
to walk with God the Father in relationship rather than a rulebook.

    You were obedient,
fulfilling the scripture You wrote, not uttering a word as they shed Your blood.
But then, at the end, it was not man's, "I'll get even," but, "Father, forgive them."

    You were dead,
they pulled your limp body from the cross. How frail you seemed.
Only three hours, so little time to kill the greatest Man to ever live.
Filled with tears and not understanding,
those who loved You, carried You to the tomb.

    You didn't stay there,
You conquered death. Three hours to die, three days dead and then victory!
You returned, bringing us the gift of eternity.

You live, high and lifted up,
at the Father's side, and in the hearts of all of us who believe.
    You are My Messiah!
