Please Pray

It is a unique season of history in the American Messianic Movement.  We are witnessing the cold  chill of apathy among young Jewish people.  The age group of 20-35 are just not interested.  And worse most are not opposed to our faith.  We are accustom to seeing young business men sneer at us, call us names and curse us out.  Recently what we hear is "no thank-you" with a smiling face.  We Jewish believers in Jesus are no longer seen as a threat to this demographic of young Jewish people.  Why?  They just don't care.  The politically correct notion of tolerance has created a generation of polite passivity.

On the other side of the fence are the Ultra Orthodox Hassidic people.  They are more and more threatened by us. Why?  Because some of them are coming to faith.  In our circle of influence alone we know of nearly ten Hassidic persons who have either professed faith or are actively studying the claims of Jesus.  Both Stewart and I (Shosh) regularly interact with Hassidic persons.  In past years we found these Hassidic to be the most violent and verbally abusive towards us.  These days we are often surprised how quickly  they take our literature.  It generally takes years for Hassidic persons to profess faith.  After all, they have everything to lose.

Please pray!   Our Jewish people desperately need to know the salvation Jesus offers.  We covet your prayers as we press on here in NYC.

On the Streets Today

Today a co-worker, Sam and I (Shosh) handed out Gospel tracts on the upper west side which is a very Jewish area.  Please pray for the many Jewish people we spoke with today.  Pray they will read the literature we gave them and consider the Messiahship of Jesus.

Check out a new Facebook Page, "Two Jewish Mothers"   Please "Like" our page.  Another missionary and I (Shosh)  have started this social media campaign to interact with the Jewish Community. Our hope is that in the spring we will set up seats in public parks here in Manhattan and Brooklyn to "give advice" and have a platform from which to share the Gospel.   Please keep us in prayer as we continue to promote this on Facebook and Twitter.  You can follow us on Twitter: 2jewishmothers.  We are not using our "real names" we are just, "Two Jewish Mothers" so please do not mention our names if you interact with us on the Facebook page.

Baby It's Cold Outside

Here at Jew for Jesus in New York City we have been trying new ways to interact with Jewish people on the streets.  Since the weather has been cold we have been setting up tables with free literature and offering a free cup of hot chocolate to those walk by.  This has given us great opportunity to speak with unbelieving Jewish people.  Today a woman asked Shosh, "Why are you doing this?"  To which Shosh replied, "So I can tell you how much God loves you."  "Oh, thank-you." she responded.  Before she left we gave her a Gospel broadside which presented the Good News.  Please keep our NYC branch of Jews for Jesus in prayer as we continue to try new ways of reaching out to our Jewish people on the cold streets of this great city.
